From 20th to 22nd August 2026, BBC IT SERVICES conducted a 3-Day Data Science with Python Workshop for MBS College of Engineering and Technology students in Jammu with IT Consultant and Technology Trainer Vivek Mahajan as the key instructor, designed to give learners practical exposure to one of the most widely used technology stacks in modern data analysis and data science.

The workshop followed a hands-on approach, taking students from working with data in Python to exploring, analysing and visualising real-world datasets. Students worked with Pandas for data handling and analysis, Matplotlib for data visualisation, and NumPy for numerical computing.

Rather than focusing only on syntax, the sessions encouraged students to understand the complete data science workflow — loading data, cleaning and transforming it, discovering patterns, performing analysis, creating meaningful visualisations and interpreting results.

The workshop also introduced students to the practical role of Python in Data Analytics, Data Science and Machine Learning, helping them understand how the skills they are learning can connect to real-world projects and future technology careers.

A well-researched Roadmap to Data Careers to help aspiring professionals understand the skills, tools, and learning path required for different careers in the data domain was discussed and shared with the students. The page covers three key roles—Data Engineer, Data Scientist, and Data Analyst—and includes a curated selection of recommended courses and books for each career path, helping learners move from foundational knowledge to job-ready skills in a structured manner. For students and institutions looking for a Python Workshop in Jammu, Python Bootcamp in Jammu, or a practical Data Science Workshop in Jammu, hands-on learning with industry-relevant libraries such as NumPy, Pandas and Matplotlib can provide a strong foundation for further study.

The workshop was supported by the active participation of the College management, faculty and student coordinators. Principal Dr. Amrik Singh spoke about the workshop roadmap shared with the students and exhorted them to identify a suitable career path and put in sustained effort towards achieving it. Administrator Prof. Rajinder Singh emphasised the importance of making consistent efforts to acquire new and relevant skills, while Vice Principal and Dean Academic Prof. Parveen Singh applauded the initiative and the workshop. Director Students Welfare Sdr. H.S. Gill and HOD, CSE, Ms Jasmeen Kaur were also associated with the workshop and its proceedings. The workshop was planned and organised in collaboration with BBC IT SERVICES by the Assistant Professor and Workshop Coordinator, CSE Department, Mrs. Ridhika Sharma, who coordinated the academic and operational arrangements. Angad Pal Singh, Student Coordinator, remained in regular touch throughout the programme, coordinating the day-to-day sharing of worksheets and other workshop activities,

A big thank you to the college management, faculty and students for their support, participation and enthusiasm throughout the three days.
